Imagine this...a late summer, classic southern, elegant backyard wedding. Isn't it great when "Plan C" turns into the dreamiest day ever?!

When Covid throws you for a loop and then a hurricane threatens to ruin your “Plan B”, you’re forced to harness your inner calm and roll with it. That's exactly what today's sweet couple did last September. Everything was lined up for their picturesque Southport Community Building wedding and then Covid closed the venue for the season. With a little over a month until wedding day, the Southport Yacht Basin sustained major damage as a result of Hurricane Isaias, and left them, yet again, venueless. With just weeks left to plan the big day, a family friend offered their gorgeous backyard in Garner, NC. The end result was an intimate and sentimental wedding, that made it hard to imagine any other way.

Let's take a look at a quick Q&A for a behind the scenes look at Anna Martin and Jack's big day.

Q: What was your wedding inspiration?

A: I wanted it to have great flow, relaxing for guests, and authentic to who we are as a couple.

Q: What was your favorite part of the day?

A: My favorite part was the way it all came together, due to circumstances there were a lot of changes, but it ended being the best day. I love that I was married in my home church, surrounded by the people that mean the most! I was gifted my grandmother's wedding band and that was such a thoughtful gift from my dad and sister. I was shocked that no one fell in the pool.

Q: Which details did you like best about your wedding?

A: I loved my dress and I loved the atmosphere at our reception. Our dear friends offered their home when our plans fell through. Their home is something out of a magazine and it was so special to have this moment at their home!

Q: What was the biggest challenge you faced in planning your big day?

A: Covid regulations.

Note from Kim: As a wedding planner, my biggest fear came true for Anna Martin and Jack's wedding. 48 hours before their rehearsal, I tested positive for Covid. While it was a relief that I was aware that I had it before their wedding, it was truly DEVASTATING that I was unable to be there to execute the plans that we had worked so hard to put together. I grow close to all of our couples but those couples that had to plan, re-plan and plan again became some of my most cherished. To not be present on Anna Martin's wedding day, was heartbreaking. I'll never forget her offering to send me photos the next day (which she did)! Fortunately, we had a well laid out plan already in place, a team of true wedding pros (who I will NEVER be able to thank enough), and some amazing friends of the couple who helped pull things off flawlessly!

Q: What’s your biggest piece of advice to couples reading this?

A: Do what you want. The day is for you! It goes by so quick, don’t take it too seriously. People will have fun as long as there is alcohol and good music. If you are on the fence on hiring a wedding planner, call Kim! I wish I had called her day one. It would have saved so much time and money in the long run! Jack said several times “I’m so glad you hired Kim - just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should!”

Q: What's been going on since the wedding (or feel free share some exciting next steps)? You can tell us about your honeymoon, big moves, plans for family, new jobs, or anything else you'd like to share!

A: We moved into our new house and Jack got a new job!
